Exodus 1S: Future is Here
HTC from Taiwan has announced that their new smartphone Exodus 1s. A new device is developed to run a BTC node so the users can processing it on mobile. The company is about to launch the device shortly.
First smartphone to rule them all
In the recent press-release the company said that they not just have launched a device, but now are selling Exodus 1s with Lightning. This announcement was made, however, on the 19th of October at the Lightning Conference. The event took place in Germany.
The difference between Exodus 1 and Exodus 1s is generally in price. They both are blockchain-powered new comings from HTC, but the second one is cheaper. It is important to mention that Exodus 1 now supports BCH. The price on Exodus 1s starts from €219 ($233) and the buyers can use cryptocoins to purchase the device. The company also claims that their new invention is the first-ever smartphone which can run a BTC node, not just proceed with the trading operations with the cryptocurrencies.
Where Exodus 1s will be available
Initially it will be available in Europe, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. According to the company the launching of selling the device in the other regions will be set on the future dates, not initially.
The Chief Officer at HTC Phil Chen pointed out in one of the interviews that their goal was not a bare node-launching but the price reduction. It will, according to the firm, lower the entry barrier. Thus anyone can run a node and join the network.
Exodus 1 appeared a year ago and was claimed as “the first native blockchain phone”. Its price was much above the average for the device of approximate the same class, but the availability covered around 34 regions worldwide.
But HTC was not the only company working in the direction of blockchain smartphones. Pundi X presented their blockchain smartphone in Berlin earlier, at the beginning of October. LG also made an announcement that they are about to develop a blockchain smartphone as a reply to Samsung innovation in the field.
